In the summer of 2013, my husband and I were casually looking for a 2nd dog to be a buddy to our first dog, Nixon. I again, started looking on Petfinder.com and AdoptaPet.com and had inquired and met a few dogs, but nothing seemed like the right fit, so we postponed our look over that summer. Then our friend’s Mom brought in a skinny little thing off the streets and they needed a home for her while they search for the owners, so we brought her to our house and Nixon was such a great older brother. They got along well. After not finding the owners (at how under-nourished Twinkie was we knew she was abandoned), I was getting her ready to foster through Ken-Mar Rescue … but we fell in love with her right away and called her ours.

Twinkie was so skinny and wobbly, that she’d slip when running to get the ball. She’s now the one who loves to eat the most! Twinkie is very carefree and loves to play. She has her own quirks and bringing her in off the streets has told me that “things happen for a reason”. We were waiting for the perfect fit to come into our lives and she is certainly it!
